I Will Always Love You Until You've Never Heard of Me

You look like Whitney..., we whispered admiringly.

She gasped before Houston, appalled, hands on face, eyes wide: NOOooooo!

B-b-b-bbbut, we stuttered. We mean pre-Bobby, we mean Whitney, The Bodyguard, Houston.

But she is too young to remember 1992.

When you are thirteen, you notice the beautiful people and you remember them good. So good that years after, when they've cracked out in a bad way and their googlexistence is made-up of mostly Afters, you still feel, with your memory, that the realness was in the Befores.

Let'sssss... hold on to our befores.

More Images From My Desktop

I'm a sucker for streetfairs. I've only seen these meat pyramids in the streetfairs in Astoria, not Manhattan. Wonder why?

Believe it or not, this is not a picture from space. It is actually a picture of my left calf, after I accidentally scratched a piece of glass against it while doing the dishes. For some reason it took forever to heal.

This is from the Zac Posen Spring 2007 show at New York fashion week. It was so exciting! I have been reading and watching a lot of fashiony things lately. I think ...remember how food went through a popular gourmet revolution, begat by Martha Stewart and, later on, Wolfgang Puck? And it led to the Food Network, etc? And before that was interior design? Well anyway I think fashion is going through the same thing. Everyone is a gourmand, everyone is a fashionista. The internet also plays a big part in these things of course. Anyway, in this picture the model looks like a reflective prism, a ghost of the future. Wonder why?

Mandate of Heaven had a Spring 2007 show on Saturday. It was a pretty hectic weekend that went sort of like this: kung fu / street fair / fitting / work on comedy / fashion show / after party / kung fu / long nap / 4 consecutive episodes of House, MD / work on comedy / work / stand-up debut. Well, maybe not hectic. Maybe "just right."

P. Diddy gave me this bruise! Too bad it's fading.

This picture was taken from the rooftop of the AMC on 42nd st. I love watching rowdy movies in that theatre. Everyone is so loud and reactive, it actually feels like a social event. We were waiting for Mr. and Mrs. Smith on opening day.

It's a bunnybee.

Human First, Vegan Second

So I was on day 7 of the 30 day vegan challenge that I'm doing (because I'm herb-curious) when I found myself in Province Town in Cape Cod, eating a lobster roll. So then I really went for it and had a gigantic serving of gelato (pineapple with basil and chocolate raspberry). By dinner time I was in New Haven inviting more animal product back into my life, specifically the shrimp and the calamari, at one of the many Thai restaurants there. Today I was ready to start back at day 1 except I ended up ordering striped bass at Blue Fin for an unexpected recruiting lunch and trying to soften up my harsh mouth-hurting bread roll with copious amounts of butter. So really, tomorrow is day 1. God dammit. I really want to get this challenge over with so I can do another 30 day challenge. The number of day 1's I've had on this challenge is staggering.
